Refugee Relief in Serbia - Option 14 2024

We work in 3 local refugee camps. In Šid camp we run games, sports and activities for teenage boys. In the other 2 camps we serve in our Tea Tent – a space for the refugees to come and chat, play games, relax and drink tea with our volunteers. You will be involved in providing drinks in the OM tea tent, keeping the tent area clean, working in the camp laundry, socialising with refugees, and sharing Christ’s love with them while respecting the rules of the camp.

Serving in the camp includes practical service, doing laundry for the refugees, making and serving tea and coffee, general duties involved in running the tea tent and laundry and to spend time with the refugees sharing our faith in Jesus Christ. Refugee Relief Serbia - Language Teaching (1 - 3 month option)

You will work 5/6 days a week in the camps, facilitating simple, and casual language lessons with the young single men. You will plan and run simple, casual language activities. They want to learn English, and/or German.

We are currently not running any structured language lessons (or have we ever in the past) but we have opportunity. The number of guys who will join, and the frequency they come will be inconsistent – but while they are in the camps there are refugees who would love to use their time in this way.

You will also help our team out with our regular jobs in the tea tent, preparing tea and laundry.

**Please note, we will assist you with resources and ideas, however we would love people who would like to pioneer this opportunity. You will need to be ok to be a little independent and self directed, while also working under our team and the camp rules. English can be your second language.
